In Response To: Re: Bad Cyborg's Big Grunty Announcement (Rockslider) : I kept with 8.1 because I was doing Mac programming (C++) and wanted my stuff : to be compatible with the Mac OS at least that far back. If I'd upgraded, : testing backwards compatibility might have been an issue. Anyway, 8.1 was : working plenty good enough for me; I'm not the sort that always wants to : have the latest kit. Witness the fact that my new Mac is a second-hand G4 : from several years back! I think we're up to G5 now aren't we? That makes : me only 1 generation behind. Woo-hoo! You're actually about 2 generations behind. After G5 came Intel Core Duo, and now we're up to Core 2 duo, though that's only on the consumer side. Pro desktops are running quad-core Xeon Intels. G4's are fine though, if they're around 733mhz and up, they can run leopard and all that, albeit a little crickety. With a G4 or G5 Mac, you can always multi-boot if you need to stay in touch with the older OS'es, I'm sure you knew that though. - M
