: And please...Resident Evil only looks good because of so-and-so special
Rex pretty much answered a bunch of this but I thought I'd put my comments in as well. Okay, so you said N64 had a bigger launch. How about later in the lives of both N64 and PS. Which was more popular. Being number 1 for 1% of the time is not better then being #1 99% of the time. Do you know anything about the development of games and what problems arise when games don't work on computers? I work in the game industry by doing tech support for numerous games. I know more about what causes problems in games then most, even if they claim to be big gamers. So what causes problems in games? 70% of the time the problem is that the user does not meet system requirements. 14% of the time the user will need to get later drivers or close their background applications. Another 14% requires a system setting chaged due to their computer being set up wrong for what the game requires and 2% of the time it is because their system has turned to trash and the system needs a rehaul. What does this translate to? All problems are because of incompatibility with hardware due to the extreme abundence of variation. There are also sometimes in game bugs, but that has rex mentioned is because the game was rushed out and testing was not complete. So what about the X-box. Well, like all consoles, it uses the same hardware which pretty much eliminates all problems PCs have while mainting the advantages. Oh, and I don't think DX is hard to develop for. Show me a devloper that says X-box is hard to devloper and I'll show you a developer who programs in basic. And by the way, you can't compare RL to SF. SF was originally developed for the PS2 and had to be ported. This means it is not going to have exclusive graphics which will push the system to the limts. In fact you often can't compare any cross platform games on consoles. Legend
