In Response To: Re: First contact between the Flood and Forerunner (MasterCheifn) : I've always thought that the Flood were the product of a failed experiment by : the Forerunner. The Forerunner had already mastered architecture, : spacetravel and computer technoligy. Maybe they decided to test the limits : of their knowlage, by creating a new species? We have been told that the Forerunners encountered the Flood and that they speculated that the Flood was of extra-galactic origin. They wouldn't do that if they had made the Flood themselves. Of course, a small group of Forerunners could have made the Flood and not told the others about it but I think that this is an unnecessary complication. But the Flood does smell artificial. I suspect that some other race 'made' the Flood in some other galaxy. Thing is that GM always says that he is a monument to our sins. Is he referring to all living organisms? all sentients? or all Forerunners or the descendants of the Fathers of the Forerunners? (He calls the Chief the child of his enemy.)
