In Response To: Re: Fin-backed smudges (NOKYARD) : I did some testing where i got on the scarab before it enters the area. It is : invincible for about 15 seconds after Johnson says "Scarab, find some : cover, now". You might notice in the speedrun that the shield is not : affected by the first three attacks...now that you can actually see what : is going on. Ah, I guess that could be why the shield occasionally seemed to resist a rocket I fired at it after boarding early, like the rocket was just bouncing off. I thought maybe I wasn't hitting the shield square enough on, and didn't investigate further; but this invincibility now sounds the likely explanation, and also means that I may as well dawdle for a few seconds to give the covies a good bashing beforehand! How were you judging invicibility, exactly? By the way, when you say you got on the Scarab "before it enters the area", you did still have to wait for it to get at least one leg down, right? There's no way of boarding earlier is there? I mean, I know you high-speedsters are fast, but you're not that fast surely!
