(Charley117) Outside of my agreeing with your opinion on the Ark portal opening's battle being not as cool as it could have been, I disagree 100% with everything you said to the point of believing the opposite. I felt the ending was perfect and exactly what the story needed given what came before, even if it didn't have some of the things that I wanted to see mentioned in there. I'm not an emotional dude, but the final scene with the Chief and Cortana at the end where he'd just saved the entire freakin' galaxy and gets screwed anyway... I felt it. If he wasn't the baddest Spartan-II and soldier that ever lived, being in that kind of situation would probably break anyone. For all he knows, every person he's ever cared about outside of Cortana is dead, and on top of that he's stuck in the middle of literal nowhere. His Spartans, Johnson, Halsey, even Miranda Keyes are all gone. So he wins, but he gets nothing except slow death, congratulations. You can even hear it in his voice when he's getting back in the cryotube. I don't know, the direction worked for me.
