In Response To: Re: You're not going to like it *CH* *SP* (elpolloguapo) : Not exactly parallel. The forerunners were totally out of contact with-didn't : even know the existence of-this "lost tribe." There may even : have been some slight mutations differing them. So? There may be lost tribes that I don't know about but if I met a member of one I'm sure I'd recognize him/her as being human. If there have been any slight mutations then they obviously haven't stopped Luminaries or Oracles or Sentinels from recognizing us. I've a school chum with three nipples but he's still recognizably human. : It does, but there's no logical reason why.
I see one reference to great journey in terminal 7. But one is enough. I think that this is a slip on Bungie's part. I'll recheck CH for any other Forerunner references to gj. : Then do you think that they evolved to the extent that they did from protozoa
I'm not saying that they weren't reseeded. I'm saying that its not on the list of things that Truth's faith is based upon. Its not one of the facts that he bases his faith upon. The idea runs counter to the foundation of his faith. He thinks that the Forerunners transcended. They didn't commit mass suicide, kill everyone, then reseed some. <- They did but Truth didn't know that. There have been a few references to the idea that all will walk the path. Only the unworthy do not. In Truth's eyes, if any Forerunners failed to transcend then they must be unworthy. He says as much to Johnson in Halo 3. Staten tells us that this is what Truth believes in CH. The difference between a book and a game is that the author can state what a character believes. A game has to try to show you what a character believes, its not as incontrovertable as a direct statement. And Staten is a member of the core Halo writing team. His book was reviewed by Frankie and other members of the writing team. I'd also like to point out that we had endless debates about Reclaimer != Forerunner because we were never explicitly called Forerunners by Sparky. He only ever called us Reclaimers. Many took this a 'proof' that we weren't Forerunners. We weren't explicitly called Forerunners so obviously we are not. I can imagine that if the Bungie writers' intention was that we were Forerunners then they would be banging their collective foreheads on the desks when reading the HBO forum. One would say to the others. 'lets put as many references to Humans are Forerunners into the game, into iris, and into Joe's book as we can. Then nobody can say, humans/Reclaimers are not Forerunners'. A wiser soul probably replied, 'Lets put a few but no matter how many we do, someone on HBO will say that its only a metaphor, I bet you.' :-) Now that we have been explicitly called Forerunners the argument has become: Bungie would never do anything so obvious so, again, we are not Forerunners. :-) Cue sound of banging foreheads... : Then why are we alive? If we weren't on the Ark then The thing we built on that world will vouchsafe their lives, This may have been the portal but that opens up to operate and was buried b4 the Array was activated. If we had been on the Ark then how did we get back to Earth?
