In Response To: Re: Humanity-Forerunner Stuff, *CH Spoilers* (elpolloguapo) : The number one thing (though there are several others) indicating to me that : we are not forerunner is the fact that we were so primitive in the Cradle : of Life comic. The forerunners left us as their heirs, to : "reclaim" their legacy, and likely either programmed their AIs, : etc. to recognize us as such. In H3 343GS says "you ARE : Forerunner" in the very conversation that really convinces me that : we're not. He was speaking metaphorically-we constantly hear him refer to : "[his] creators" in the third person when around MC-"the : reclaimer." : I unfortunately haven't read Contact Harvest, could you please give me some : context in the part where the Oracle says that? : And I doubt Bungie would have the word leaked out in a book that not everyone : will read. When and if they tell us the 7ru7h, it will be in some grand, : epic fashion. I don't have my copy, but you have to read it. Especially those parts. Not more than 1 week ago, I argued that we are not Forerunner (against Thanatos I think), and that 343GS says YOU ARE (essentially) FORERUNNER! Which means even though we weren't the same, he was considering us Forerunner. My argument went:
BUT! After reading CH I don't know what to think. The statements by the Oracle and Truth's inner dialog are really, REALLY, unambiguous. And since it's Staten doing the writing, I tend to want to weight these statements over any other piece of fiction in the Haloverse. Iris really cemented things for me (Humans NOT Forerunner), since it was directed by Frankie specifically as story filler for H3. But a novel created specifically by Staten is just as powerful. Basically what they've done is completely muddy the waters, their goal, I'm sure. There is now (again) wiggle room for multiple arguments, and reasonable doubt for each. I am undone!
