In Response To: Re: Kill 'em all speed runs (Slith)

: Well... These infinite spawn points are the exact same for everyone. So why
: not just skip'em? Make a list of 'official' areas that you can skip past
: without killing enemies and voila, problem is solved.

I think there are no more than 2 infinite spawn points: at the end of 343 GS, and in Engineering in The Maw. However, I'd want to take a second look at even those cases. My level-specific details take care of those special cases; there's no need for that list of yours Slith.

Hmm... is there maybe also a room in 343 GS where spores very slowly spawn forever, dropping from the ceiling or something? I forget; but in any case I was only talking talking about spawning for proper Flood, and covies.

Actually I think people are sometimes using 'infinite' to mean 'very large' - which is pretty entertaining. Even if a spawn point featured a billion combat Flood and all their gurgling in-laws, that would be as nothing compared to 'infinity', let me assure you. It's a different kettle of fish entirely. So please people, let's not talk of a spawn point being 'infinite' when it's not. Say 'heavy spawn point' or something.

: [Although, I'd also like to point out that a few of these infinite spawn
: points, aren't actually infinite. The beginning of Keyes is a good
: example.]

Yes, the beginning of Keyes is a great example. Like probably most people I originally assumed those Flood on the ship would spawn for ever; but no, you can last out the attack if you fight like the devil; and it's a heck of a lot of fun too!
