In Response To: Halo 3 achievements list *possible spoilers* (Dry Ice) To quote Emil from Robocop, "I LIKE IT!" This is everything I hoped for Halo 3's achievements. I really like how they're balanced in favor of Campaign. The ones that are unlockable in multiplayer add up to only 125 points. They're generally very simple, as none require massive griding like the "Get 100 chainsaw/curbstomp/etc. kills" in Gears of War, though some look kind of hard to get, e.g. getting an Overkill or Killing Frenzy in an FFA match. Furthermore, all but two of the multiplayer achievements can only be unlocked in a ranked FFA playlist (are there ones other than Rumble Pit?), and several can also be unlocked on Campaign. This guarantees that people won't play like total asshats like many do in ranked matches on Gears. As for Campaign achievements, once you beat the game on Legendary, you'll have received a total of 655 points. I like how the difficulty-related achievements are stackable, so if you beat it on Legendary, you automatically get the ones for beating it Heroic or Normal. The terminal achievement sounds pretty interesting. Very Marathon/Metroid Prime-esque. I'm also curious to see what these "meta-games" are. The skull achievements reward players for exploring, which I like. I never really bothered with skulls in Halo 2 except for Sputnik, but this ought to give me something to do while exploring the stage after I've slaughtered all the bad guys. This is how achievements should be done for shooters. Not as simplistic as CoD2, and lacking the behavior-affecting grindfests of GoW, this is about as good as it gets. Bungie did an awesome job here, and I applaud them.
