In Response To: To the end of arc, Mr Bananas (yakaman) Take into account "Forerunner" and "Forerunners"...if the single/plural context of that word is taken into account we might be able to find out when a single super-powerful species is referred to and when a collective is taken into account. My apologies...I do not have the time to check this out right now. I agree about the collective part...but there is a very powerful species that is missing from the present equation. If there were a problem between the Forerunners and Prophets, and Prophets realized that the Reclaimers(Descendants or chosen carriers of Forerunner knowledge and culture) were still alive, they'd want to get rid of them. And I don't think the formation of the Covenant was a random event or a mistake in the least. It happened all according to plan. Finally, 343 Guilty Spark notices that the Covenant have familiar technology(Joe Staten may have hinted that it wasn't all blind thievery and duplication), but doesn't see them as anything more than meddlers. A construct of his classification cannot perform a number of tasks and is bound to protocol, who says that he was given any information about the species that would form the future Covenant at all? If humans/human forerunners were to have built the Halos, they could have deliberately instructed the monitors to regard all non-human/non-reclaimer beings as saboteurs and meddlers. In that case, no other species would be able to sabotage the Halos without facing strong resistance.
