: memory upgrades" Dell desktop could handle it?

Certainly! I should have included this in my Q&A... I've developed and run this game on my Compaq Presario 7000. It was made in 2001, with 1.7 GHz, 256MB RAM (OUCH!), and a GeForce 5200 FX graphics card. It drops FPS like mad if there are, well, more than twenty ships or I look at a high detail model or a high-res nebula. The performance has improved thanks to FS2Open, and since your comp has better specs than mine, being a 2003, I'm positive it will run well enough to play without you feeling the need to throw your joystick through the screen because of lag.

So far I find it a point of pride that I've made the game so it'll run on older comps well. I hate it when a new game I really want to play is nigh unplayable due to my outdated hardware
