Campaign stats - two more thoughts | |

In Response To: Campaign stats (Rockslider) I had two more thoughts: (1) Stats after a level could actually be useful for giving you stats-based fun and challenges, when you're not in the mood for playing completely 'realistically'. You could play to optimize one stat or another. I already mentioned one special example: 'DURATION', for speed runs. Other examples? If the stats told you how many enemies got killed by a needler, you could try to kill as many as you can with a needler. That sort of thing. Obviously the choice of stats available would dictate what types of fun you could have, so it would be up to Bungie to come up with suitable choices. (2) After a level, how about having a choice offered to you: "DISPLAY STATS?". Hit 'A' for yes (in which case multiple pages could follow), 'B' for no. I think it would be the best way to do things. For those of us who usually wouldn't want to see stats, it's only minimally intrusive - I could live with it. Yet when I DO want to see stats, which I would when playing for stats-based fun, I won't have had to fiddle around adjusting an option before starting the level. I'll just hit 'B' when the time comes.
