In Response To: Halo 3 achievements. (Gravemind) I think it was Max Hoberman who mentioned Achievements in a recent interview. He said, clearly in reference to Gears of War, that it made more sense to have an Achievement read "Get 100 kils in a Snipers game" rather than "Get 100 Sniper kills". There's BIG difference between those two, so I think Bungie is aware of how Achievements can impact behaviour. As for specifics, I think Achievements should be independant of the medals. For instance, getting a Killtacular should not be an Achivement. It impact play style (I can imagine team mates not killing guys, hoping they'd cluster, or over-relying on grenades) and is redundant with the medals. I would like to see some MP Achievements impact team play, like Narcogen said. Be on the winning team in BTB five times, something like that. (Not very creative, but you get the point.) I'm hoping for a few fun, challenging ones in the campaign; perhaps "complete any campaign mission on Legendary without dying" - something to that effect.
