In Response To: Re: There's pie in that thar sky (Captain Spark) : I would like to add a few things to your list that I REALLY want in Halo 3. : Finish Halo 3 on Legendary and unlock the original Halo 1 weapons for use
Heh, that's well in keeping with Ducain's 'pie in the sky' theme, I'd say. I'd like access to the original weapons too, but I really can't see Bungie considering such a mix. I don't think developers like having such throwback features. It's not so much the amount of extra work it might take, it's just that they want to have things consistently focused across the whole game. Partly to do with game's identity. : Give me the ability to zoom in using the heavy weapon on the Scorpion tank. Hey, nice idea; that could look real dramatic and make the tank a lot more enjoyable. I don't use the Scorpion much, and now I come to think of it, part of the reason is because of the aiming. For me it's always had a shoot-and-hope vibe, and with long-distance shots it's often a case of gradually adjusting your aim over the course of a few opening shots. : No destructible vehicles. let's revisit the Warthog Jump! I'm surprised you're suggesting that at all. You're happy to deny yourself the satisfaction of blasting a Banshee out of the sky, or cooking a Ghost or Wraith? I want destructibility across the board as long as it's done well. I'd particularly like to finally be able to blow covie dropships out of the sky. Do you ever rocket them in H1? Doesn't have any effect but it's still quite satisfying to let the covies know how you feel! I also want all vehicles to take damage in their own right, not have it linked to the driver's health. That always was nonsensical of course, gameplay issues aside. As a general point, I don't think that the enjoyment of tricking should be used as an argument against features that would be fun for the overwhelming majority of players who aren't into that extra-curricular activity (noble though it may be). I was talking about that in another thread, in connection with the idea of having a freecam feature, something which could be great fun but which (apparently) could remove a lot of the incentive for tricking. : Give me ability to turn off the music and sound effects I'd certainly like the option of being able to battle without a symphony coming over my intercom! Sometimes I'd rather go with a more realistic feel, with just the sounds of the environment and battle. That has its own aesthetic appeal. Music washes over everything, and in its louder moments can be a significant hindrance, e.g. making it hard to pick up the sounds of unseen enemies. There are places in H1 where it really annoys me.
