In Response To: There's pie in that thar sky (Ducain) : I wrote up a little Halo 3 campaign wishlist. Give it a read, and add your : goodies to the list. : http://highimpacthalo.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22788 : JH Nice list. I've been reading people's opinions here and they've been very interesting. Here's my 2 cents, and plaese note this isnt 'omfg bring back Halo' it is stuff that Halo got right and Bungie inexplicably got wrong when they did Halo 2, reversing instead of improving certain aspects of the game. 1. Online co-op isn't that important to me, especially if legendary in Halo 3 is going to be as fun-suckingly frustrating as it was in Halo 2. Getting sniped by jackals you cant see gets tired very quickly. 2.Yes yes and YES. It really annoyed me that Bungie didn't seem to like Halo 1's Silent Cartographer level when it was one of the best in the game because of its open design. Open levels give not only a sense of freedom but also allow you to utilise proper tactics. Halo 2's mainly linear levels were for the most part a complete bore. I used to play through Halo 1 levels again and again but I rarely do for Halo 2 because theres a distinct lack of variety and replayability. 3. Agreed Halo melee was FTW. The sword in Halo 2 is frankly stupid and the other melees lack weight and damage. 4.Yes. The grenades are under-powered in Halo 2 to the point of being practically useless. 5. Meh-who cares tbh they are easter eggs 6. Yeah fair enough 7. That would be a nice extra but hardly vital. 8. NEED is a strong word. See 7. 9. Well really I'd like to see falling damage back and that going hand in hand with a health system similar to Halo. Fact is the changes Bungie made to both systems removed a whole chunk of tactical play and dumbed the game down. Plus its incredibly frustrating to have hammered a player with fire but not quite finished them off and then a matter of seconds later they are fine. Also the sword leaping etc and stuff that you can do without the fall damage limitation is stupid. I'd further add that the vehicle handling for the ghost warthog and banshee are dumbed-down. The boost function and the flips you can do with the banshee require no skill and feel unnatural as you are pressing a button doing an automated movement rather than free-form skill and control. Basically I think Halo 3 needs to return to being more tactical, requiring more skill to play well and have larger open levels with mutiple multiple ways of approaching them to allow for free-form tactical play which made HALO so great. I'm not crying out for Halo 1 I'm just crying out for a better game than Halo 2.
