Would sure like melee combos | |

In Response To: Re: My own H3 wishlist (Rosco-128) I agree, in H1 the same melee animation over and over can get quickly repetitive and feel unrealistic. That said, in practice I'd usually be moving around (e.g. circling an Elite as I rain in blows), which makes things feel more dynamic and varied. But what I'd really like is to be able to string a decent combo together, something that was mooted for H2 but disappointingly never materialized. I'm not saying get into a whole system of unarmed combat. It would be enough to know that if you keep pressing the melee button, say up to a limit of 3 times, your attack will progress through a fixed combination of moves (just blows would be fine, though there's also the idea of throws of course). I consider predictability important, so you can feel like you're actually in control, rather than never knowing quite what attack you're going to do. Potentially you could have the ability to modify a combo or generate it move by move in some way; but I'd be happy enough just with one fixed multi-blow combo for each weapon. Even such a simple system as that would go a long way to making melee more engaging and fluid, quite apart from looking and feeling more realistic. I wonder why we didn't get combos in H2 (despite the fact that one was seen in an E3 movie - against a Brute that had landed on MC's hog, if I recall correctly). Was there some technical difficulty issue to do with the game engine? Or maybe they just didn't have enough time to do all the relevant 3D modelling or whatever? Anyone happen to know?
