Maybe not for you, but it does if you're tuned in to the comedy of the old-style death animations, which were carefully engineered for entertainment, with an almost cartoonish style I'd say. Maybe I just have a higher affinity for slapstick, I don't know. Still, it remains one aspect of gameplay where for me at least, better physics simulation led to significantly less fun, not more. : In halo1 all characters had the exact same "pose" when they died, and
There were a couple of variations within each alien category, but yes the sameness was sometimes very noticeable in occasional scenes of mass carnage where you'd killed multiple enemies near the same spot. And yes, there was a bad visual shortcoming in cases where enemies ended up sticking off an edge or something. But I was chiefly thinking of the joy of the initial part of the animation - the most important and visceral part - rather than the settling-down part. That said, I do find the face-down spreadeagled Grunt pose highly amusing. Them critters is funny even when they're dead! Anyway, that's about enough of the old H2 debate I should think, and I'm probably a naughty cyborg for bringing up those old points at all, though I did try to freshen it up a bit. I blame Ducain for leading me into temptation, heh heh. Onwards and upwards!
