In Response To: Re: Has this been discussed? (scarab) Ok, I can see that both yourself and Ducain ("Freecam without killing tricks") reckon that a free-cam would greatly lessen the interest in getting places by tricking. But to try to argue against a free-cam on those grounds seems selfish (and perhaps you wouldn't disagree). Mind you, there could still be a benefit in reaching unusual places in person, namely the ability to attack the enemy from there. We've got some good examples in H1, e.g: on top of SC, on the shaft prongs in the main facility of SC, on a cliffside hilltop in level 2. : If everyone could fly around all the levels and go anywhere.
I could see myself enjoying far more deeply than that. It could be a major and ongoing source of pleasure; particularly if you could free-roam amongst enemies, getting all sorts of dramatic views. Even if you could only view a level with no enemies present, I'd still love to go flying around the scenery. I think I'd spend a lot of time on that, just as I presently enjoy 'quiet moments' taking in the sounds and scenery of H1. : Almost nobody would post fly-cam montages. You'd get some
I'm not actually familiar with what you're talking about. Sounds like it's to do with getting views from a free-roaming camera somehow, presumably by tricky and technical means (maybe on a PC or modded Xbox?). I'm guessing that the objection would therefore be that if the game provides such a camera, "anyone can do it". If so, I'd say yes, and why not? More people can enjoy the fun of making a nice movie or whatever; it won't be restricted to just the folk that have the technical know-how.
