In Response To: Re: Susan O'Connor - process of games writing OT (Jillybean) : I'd be lying if I said the thought hadn't crossed my mind. And yeah, it's a : scary thought. I'm not a Live player, and asides from one (admittedly very : fun) LAN I don't play multiplayer that often. I don't want to give the impression that I'm ragging on Bungie, because I'm not. Lately I've been wondering if the single player campaign for games ( shooters ) is being sacrificed for the on line play of the game. I focus more on campaign play rather the dipping myself into the on line cess pool of X Box Live. After I finished GoW I was left with the feeling that the campaign was pointless and it seemed like a 7 hour tutorial, training you for the on line game. Gears of War is a decent game but there's very little within the game that explains just exactly who it is you are fighting and why you are fighting them. You have to read the game manual to find out most of the story? Gears of War is a beautiful game, graphically speaking. I played it on my 58 inch HDTV at 1080i and it looks wonderful. The frag throwing physics is awful and the players can't throw a frag grenade more the 25 to 30 feet (estimated from my observation). I do find it amusing that your squad mates have to jump over nearly every obstacle grunting and groining as they muscle themselves over the obstacles rather then just walking around the obstacles. In Gears of War you can turn off all music and sound effects.....Bungie.....hint, hint. please do this for Halo 3. Sorry Marty, no offense intended. The language in the game is R rated and some of the banter between your player and your team mates is rather comical. Just some observations.
