In Response To: Re: Susan O'Connor - process of games writing OT (Captain Spark) : Gears of War has a story? I played through the game twice and I still don't : know why the enemies ARE my enemies. The campaign is incredibly short, it : took me slightly less then 8 hours to finish it. Sometimes I wonder why : game developers even bother with a single player campaign in Live enabled : games, considering how short and uninspiring the campaign is in this game. : I'm a touch worried that Halo 3 will be like this. I'd be lying if I said the thought hadn't crossed my mind. And yeah, it's a scary thought. I'm not a Live player, and asides from one (admittedly very fun) LAN I don't play multiplayer that often. I was going to link to a Jordan Mechner interview that talked about how cutscenes do not a story make, you have to seed the story through the game (think going through 'Regret' and 'Delta Halo' and listening to Regret's speeches) but I didn't entirely agree with it. He does a much better job of getting story across than Gears of War though . . .
