One thing that the Needler does that doesn't translate into game terms very well is that it fragments; every shard is like a tiny fragmentation grenade that lodges shrapnel into your skin on detonation. In Halo: Fall of Reach, for example, one Marine has an entire muscle segment on his arm blown apart by a single needler detonation. Now, imagine a dozen of these shards flying at you at high speed, and homing in, even bouncing off corners and continuing after you as you dive behind cover. That's not only deadly, but damn frightening. Fear is an integral part of any battle, and using fear against an enemy is part and parcel of defeating an enemy; that's the whole point of suppression and covering fire. |
