: skav-out The Flood are excellent candidates for needling, in my opinion. Nothing but flesh, them. By nature, the needler is non-precise, as it just looks for a nice piece of flank steak to blow asunder. Yes, asunder. So to me, (and as Sep7imus opined), it is great for single player. Especially against Flood combat forms (though maybe not infection forms). I wonder if there is ever any reference of certain covie weapons with certain species or time periods. For example, the Needler seems perfect for Grunts, who generally have a tendency to panic and send rounds flying randomly. So maybe the answer might be "they were created to counter Flood combat forms..." or "...Needlers were designed for Grunts to compliment their erratic approach to combat...". Or maybe it's "..Bungie thought they were cool so decided to throw them in there...". In any case, it's a good question.
