In Response To: Is it bad if Halo changed my life? (Dustbunny27) Okay, maybe not. Halo has meant a lot to me, even though it's never been the focus in my life, I appreciate how different I would be if I hadn't started playing, or more importantly, come to this website. I doubt I would have been anywhere near as much of a Bungie/Halo fan, if I hadn't come here looking for tips, and started reading this forum. I probably wouldn't have gotten as interested in this forum, if it weren't for the fact that the people who posted here didn't just share tips, they seemed to share their lives. I started reading this site right before Brian Morden passed away, and the responses of the fans, and of Bungie, are what made me stick around. It was the first time I saw a real community, in just about every sense of the word, surrounding a video game. It was the first time I saw gamers being truly mature. I honestly think it was the point at which I realized I could grow up, and still not outgrow gaming. I haven't contributed too much to the community here, and haven't built many real friendships, but Halo, and this site have impacted me nonetheless. I really think my personal life would be about the same without Halo, I have friends and community outside of it, my wife and job and sense of purpose were found through those outlets. But my life feels a lot richer than it would have been with the experiences I've had from this community. | |
