I : mean my life would be really different without it. : It all started when me and my brother got hooked on halo, even before we had : an Xbox. We would always go to the EB and play the machine there. : Eventually my brother's friend was selling his Xbox, so we bought it, and : there started our Halo addiction. Halo 2 came out, stood in line at 12:00, : stayed up till 4 and woke up two hours later for school, shaking with : insomia and excitment. For Christmas we got XBox Live, this is where the : big changes occur. : We started to meet some people in our school who had live. I met one of my : best friends this way, and also my first girlfriend. I was in 9th grade : and she was a senior. Eventually the halo craze with all of our friends : died down a little, my girlfriend broke up with me, and some friends even : canceled their subscriptions, since college and jobs called. : My one friend still stayed on, and since he has a family member in the same : grade (she is his aunt, long story) we started talking, and became better : friends and she eventually asked me to a winter dance(which was a couple : of months away). I said yes and we have been dating for over a year now. : Looking back a couple of days ago I started to wonder, what my life would be : like without halo. I would have never gone to the prom with a senior when : I was in 9th grade. The friends I have now I wouldn't have been as good : with or known at all. And most importantly I wouldn't have my current : girlfriend. : Kinda odd thinking what would have happened if the EB's Xbox wasn't working, : If we weren't forced to go to the mall so often, if we didn't have enough : money to buy that Xbox from our friend, my whole life would have changed : drasticlly. I think that this sort of thing can apply to any number of events or things, so long as you put enough time and effort into it, and especially if a bajillion other people are involved. very similiar things have happened to me, but on a deeper level, I have a more refined appreciation for a good story, a deep universe, and a reliable shotty. I think that's what Bungie's in the business for. not to make fun games, per say, but influential games. and I salute them for it.
