It appears that Spark's objection is not so much that the Reclaimer doesn't want to fire Halo, so much as it is the removal of the Index and the refusal to turn it back over. Spark doesn't attack the Chief until he refuses to return the Index; the dialogue is very specific on this. It doesn't matter that he's not going to fire Halo. He says himself he will simply find another, but then he specifies that he must have the Index. He then demands that Cortana be turned over or he will take her from him forcibly. He refuses, Spark sics the Sentinels on him. Now, on Delta Halo, things are a bit different, not the least among them a lack of properly followed protocol inr ecovering the Index, plus the fact that the Reclaimer is forced to fire Halo (as oppossed to willingly doing it on Alpha Halo) and the fact that they're on a completely different Halo where Spark may not have any say in the matter. If 2401 Penitent Tangent was present, he might have something else to say on the matter, but Spark appears to be regulated to an advisory capacity on another Halo. | |
