In TB, sparky is quite prepared to go against a Reclaimer's wishes, even to the point of killing him. In GJ he stalls but gives in. There is a huge difference in his behaviour. What makes the difference? Is it that this isn't his installation? He may not have any Sentinels to do his bidding but he could have chosen to remain silent. Was the problem that Cortana had been in the core and had the index? 343 GUILTY SPARK: A construct?! In the core?! OTOH 343 GUILTY SPARK: Last time, you asked me, if it was my choice, would I do it? Having considerable time to ponder your query, my answer has not changed. (Master Chief takes Cortana's disk out of the console, and inserts it into his head.) 343 GUILTY SPARK: There is no choice. We must activate the ring. CORTANA: (whispers in Master Chief's head) Get us out of here! 343 GUILTY SPARK: If you are unwilling to help, I will simply find another. Still, I must have the index. Give your construct to me, or I will be forced to take her from you. MASTER CHIEF: That's not going to happen. 343 GUILTY SPARK: So be it. Save his head. Dispose of the rest. It looks like his 1st priority is to activate the ring. Cortana is only important because she holds the index and sparky wants it back. It also looks like he'll need another Reclaimer once he gets the index back. Its clear to me that his motivation is to fire Halo. Has he changed his mind on the whole containment protocol issue now that he knows what happened after the last activation?
