Can you be a little more specific? I was under the impression that most of the Halo 2 work, including the storyline, came into form after the first game came out. : I don't know if they'll give them up entirely. The scarab encounter was not : bad at all, and the Heretic battle only needed tweaking, I think. Well, I'd have liked the Scarab more if the sequence went like: Scarab carrying Prophet/excavation leader is on the loose; Pelicans come in to ferry troops to combat zone; combat en route; Master Chief meets up with Banks and calls for airstrike on Scarab; Pelican gunships fire missiles and cripple Scarab; immobilized Scarab and onboard troops put up hell of a fight; Master Chief blows the lot to kingdom come; Whoever was supposed to be there isn't there; Cortana interfaces with the Scarab's controls and discovers what Regret was up to; Master Chief boards Pelican bound for IAC as Regret begins his getaway. How does all that sound? Pretty good? : They may just opt for better, more consistent "boss battles" that : feel less like the stereotypical, arbitrary "boss battles". Bosses are bosses: They suck. : However, I'd be surprised if somebody doesn't end up fighting one or more of : the following three characters: Gravemind : Truth : Guilty Spark : And any would be a candidate for a "boss encounter" as such. Let me see. 343 Guilty Spark- he's worth elaborating on. He was invincible in the first game, and he was the only truly invincible solid character in the game (Cortana being a memory chip). But he had no weapons to hurt you with, and didn't directly vector in sentinels in-game (Except for that one cutscene). He was nothing more than a talking, floating annoyance. And his invincibility didn't seem misplaced at all, considering his importance to the installation and his forerunner origin. Sergeant Johnson (In Halo 2) is invincible, and his character's role has been greatly expanded. Add in Miranda and it feels like...Star Wars! These two can't be hurt by any weapon you carry. The same goes for Half-Jaw. In Halo, Keyes was vitally important to the story...and he was mortal. They saved the problem of having him survive by having him elsewhere through most of the events, a plot device that could be used fairly easily with Johnson and Miranda. Truth would almost certainly be like Regret, and we know how bad an offender Regret is when it comes to established rules. I hope we get rid of Truth more or less indirectly(Fire a rocket into the belly of his Phantom, plant bombs on his starship's reactor), or have him less as a boss and more as a heavily shielded, heavily armed unit. : That also brings to mind lots of horrible things that could happen. Like a : Gravemind battle similar to the Shub-Niggurath boss battle in Quake. That : would suck. Sure would.
