In Response To: Re: My Thoughts on the Halo Series (DoT_Gunslinger) : There are no spawns in the Sidewinder cliffside room. If you mean the bases,
No, I mean the cliffside rooms. My friends and I LANed against a few other friends of mine, and since one of us was in the room that the base teleporters exit out to, we all kept respawning in there. There was a sniper at the nearest base, another at the opposite cliff, and one more with a pistol in a position to snipe us if the other two failed. We only finally got out after one of our combined bids for escape saw us respawning elsewhere-about 20 points later. : Pistol/AR, cover, and nades. You must play with people much higher than your
We played with the default weaponset, so there was no starting with pistols or ARs. If you can't escape a spawn camp without running up onto the base to grab the pistol, then you're fucked, since there's going to be pistol snipers and regular snipers all watching for your spawn. : Seeing as your entire team will be spawning at the same time it is likely 1-2
Not so lucky. It was a CTF game, and we all kept spawning close enough to the wall to get hit by the tank explosion. Anyone who spawned outside was cleaned up by the orbiting ghosts. And in all this, they had a rather efficient system of charging in while we were all dead, grabbing the flag, and escaping without us being able to do anything. Didn't work the next game-we spread out enough that their initial tank-kill wasn't enough to do us in-but that was still a bad situation. : This is only because you don't need to spawncamp in H2 when you can hide in a
: Of course the larger grenade explosions of H1 caused spawning into nades to
I think that's the bigger difference between Halo 1 and 2, that certain maps on Halo 2 are much more suited for certain gametypes than others. This was true in the first game, but not to the same extent. Slayer on Ascension or Foundation, any friggin gametype on Colossus(worst map since boarding action!), or even the more obvious two flag ctf on Zanzibar. There's just some maps that shouldn't be used for some gametypes. Slayer on Foundation is one, for that reason. Of course, if you have vehicles on, it could be fun to draw out their grenades and then charge in with some ghosts, and hope that in the ensuing carnage your team could break their line and recover some rockets. But this is pure speculation; I don't play Foundation enough to have this ever come up for me :P |
