In Response To: Re: My Thoughts on the Halo Series (ubersaurus) : If in halo 1 there was a way out of being spawnkilled in the following
There are no spawns in the Sidewinder cliffside room. If you mean the bases, well you have to make a run for the teleporter but if you get through and know where the snipers are (and pick up your own sniper on the way out) you're fine. Sometimes it will take 2 tries. Most of the sidewinder spawns are in bases, so unless your teammate is standing nearby you won't spawn there repeatedly. Have him charge with you and with some coordination you should be able to either escape, or both die and respawn somewhere else. : Vs a pistol, sniper, or vehicle at a base respawn on Blood Gulch Pistol/AR, cover, and nades. You must play with people much higher than your skill level if this is difficult. : Vs a continuously firing tank, shooting at the sidewinder base(where your
Seeing as your entire team will be spawning at the same time it is likely 1-2 of you will spawn at one of the outside spawns. Nadespam the tank then shoot. Likely he will be facing the wall with his screen and not even know where you are. This trick was fun to pull off on first timers at LANs but even against them I didn't ever get much more than a 2nd running riot if the base was packed. In a CTF game where they'll actually be spawning there next to the flag again this has little to no effect on the game except losing the tank! (and pissing off your team) : Spawn camping was just as bad, if not worse, in Halo 1 than in 2. This is only because you don't need to spawncamp in H2 when you can hide in a room on foundation with 2x rockets and 2x grenadiers facing the door. Once you're outsted the ammo is gone and you've gained a 15-20 point lead. In Halo 1 you could always escape a spawn trap by standing is the positions that spawned your teammates in random locations. A well kept secret, but a part of the game none-the-less. Of course the larger grenade explosions of H1 caused spawning into nades to be more common. Solution: don't have your teammate draw nades to you by standing next to the spawnpoint when he knows you are spawning. Better yet have him stand somewhere that makes you spawn far away! |
