Of course a mediocre player can beat a better player, if the circumstances are right. What the article was discussing is the fact that Halo 2 allows too many of these circumstances to occur and inhibits a skilled player's ability to truly shine. MLB didn't make the gloves bigger so more people could play, or make the bat bigger, etc. Everyone had to adapt, everyone had to learn the game. I said losing is not fun for most hardcore of players, please read my statement again. Skill and fun may not correlate for you, but they do for thousands of hardcore videogamers. Don't assume that your position on the matter of skill in videogames applies to everyone. This matter wouldn't exist at all if it did. There are many people who play for fun, but also to win. Halo 3 should accommodate both. Bungie did it once and I have faith in them that they can do it again. |
