In Response To: Bungie is Microsoft *NM* (Pinkuh) Is microsft one giant, uniform place, single-and-like-minded towards it's goals? I wouldn't quite say so... as Windows division is not Xbox division, and Bungie isn't Rare...Microsoft Legal isn't Bungie Legal...though they fly under the same banner; there are many differences in opinion, mission, and there is MUCH internal conflict within the company, as each group tries to gain the control of this or that feature (Such as the WebTV vs Xbox deal back when Xbox project was starting) Bungie employees themselves would think "cool, RTS with pelicans...look at that little pelican go! wee!" whereas MS legal is thinking..."hmm, rts...WITH PELICANS?? we OWN the Pelican...and all the other stuff featured in the game, that game isn't approved!" B& the issue from a somewhat devil's advocate standpoint would be "use of halo property in a game offered for free is potentially damaging to the reputation and sallability of current and future Halo products, thus this project undermines the value of the property" Which, in some case is true...a well made, free, Halo RTS means that people may reasonably opt for the free alternative if an official HaloRTS was made, retailing for real money. And if the mod sucks it's only outcome is the potential for negative views towards bungie when confused people think "this new Halo game blows ass! Bungie sucks now" It becomes pretty clear that those involved, who are interested in money/marketing aspects cannot afford such competition, perhaps with the idea that "With fan's like these, who needs Sony?"
