343 Guilty does, however, that the Forerunner all died "as planned." I also think that her highness (I'm going to use that from now on to refer to Cortana. Did you invent that? It's brilliant) is using a bit of a broader definition of "world". But I'm a sucker for a tragedy, so I think the story would have a bit more punch, and originality, if humanity did kick the bucket. Enough anthropocentric stories for me!

As for The Halo/Hollow Earth theory, wasn't one of Nathan's islands something like this? I wonder how far, exactly, Bungie has gone from its roots seven years ago.
