Or the major flaw is that Bungie didn't confirm those were assault carriers, and Frankie in fact insinuated that they are not, calling the collection of vehicles an "excavation force" specifically designed for that job, and specifically referred to the size of the object as 3 miles.

He also said the engine could render geometry 14 game miles away or so. That would mean the entire artifact, if it were around 30 miles wide, would not fit in the frame. The edge of it would be over the horizon.
