Having Cortana with you in the first 2 : games (minus the arbiter) was a massive tactical advantage helping you out : when lost, egging you on etc. Now if the MC is going to get a new AI and : if its (presumably) from the forerunner ship then I am going to go with my : hunch on this. I reckon, Bungie looooves twists, that it will be our : favourite rampant marathon AI. Durandal. actually since Master Cheif is in contact with the admiral dude (help me out on the name here) from the first level, would he just act as an "AI" till cortana gets back? granted it's not as cool, but it kinda makes sense.
