In Response To: As a side note... (Hawaiian Pig) : I just read what Shishka had to say, and, in retrospect, I suppose it's
Not announced, DEVELOPED. Halo 1 was released on November 15, 2001. Halo 2 was announced on August 12, 2002, ten months after the release of Halo 1. Halo 2 was released on November 9, 2004, slightly more than two years after it was released and close to three years to the day of the release of Halo 1. It is now March 14, 2006, 18 months after the release of Halo 2, with no announcement. Another two months and the gap between last game and new announcement will be twice as long as previous. Again, I don't want anyone to get me wrong-- Bungie doesn't owe us explanations for anything, and if they want to keep mum until whatever it is hits store shelves, that is inalienably their prerogative. What I think is ironic is that I think at no time before in the history of Bungie games has it *seemed* so obvious to everyone what the next Bungie game will be, and it is at this point that Bungie is choosing neither to confirm nor deny those expectations. While we're on the subject of schedules, let's throw some more mud at the water. If Bungie followed the same development schedule, regardless of announcements, and took 3 years to develop Halo 3 (assuming that's what they're doing) then H3 would be released in November of 2007-- the Xbox 360's third holiday season, and presumably a year or more after the release of the 360's competition, the PlayStation 3.
