In Response To: Re: Why would GM be stranded on Delta? (Narcogen) The Prophet of Truth could very much like Hitler in WWII. He was a great public speaker at first, and swayed people easilly, convincing them to blame Jews for their problems. The Prophet of Truth is the same thing, stuffing The Great Journey down their throats. Also, he blames humans for their problems.
Hitler rebuilt the German War-Machine and bull-dozered over all western Europe and North Africa and the Soviet Union. And he had a habit of carpet bombing innocent cities. The Covenant are the most powerful military in the universe and force people to join their covenant. They obliterate planets without even having to set on them. They glass planets. However things started going bad for him. And by the wars end he was completely nutty. He thought he was a military genious and commanded his Germans to do immpossible things. He'd fire a general because he failed to kill 1,500 troops with 250 at his disposal. His generals even tried to kill him because he was crazy. He'd lost his mind. Holding on to territories with no value, simply because he'd conquored them and didn't want to lose them. And then he commited suicide. The Prophet of Truth could be rather the same way. Humanity is actually CATCHING UP with covenant techonology. The MAC guns can put a round clean through a covenant ship. They couldn't do THAT at the start of the war. Humanity is actually starting to enter into a more even playing field with the covenant. Perhaps the Prophet is getting increasingly senile. Commanding Tartarus to let Mercy become a flood was a horrible mistake. Did he not realize that to let Mercy become a flood, (probably a brain form like Keyes) the flood would have all the knowledge of Mercy? Once again, Mercy probably had the location of Earth. Regret probably told the other prophets where it was. It was lucky MC pulled that thing off him when he did. Anyway, the Prophet of Truth might be going a bit nutty and will keep on going making decisions that are increasingly more stupid. Probably order massive amounts of brutes to their deaths in suicide attacks... He gives the impression of a mad docter with a button that could end the world...
