In Response To: The odd couple (scarab)

The more I think about it the more I like it.

Johnson, Keyes, Arbiter, Sparky and some, expendable, spec ops ex-Covenant sneak into HC to rescue Cortana.

The idea of the Chief fighting through those corridors again strikes me as being too GRIM to bear. We've done that.

A little comic relief would help lighten the mood, company would help, there would be interesting group dynamics, and maybe some new tactics.

For a start: Sparky could provide light. You fight in larger, open spaces, where Sparky is the sole source of light. He's so bright that the Flood have difficulty in seeing you when you are in the dark. You can hang round with the others and pick off Flood as they leap into the light, or you can go into the dark to seek them out.

There's a tradeof. If you stay in the light then there is little warning of Flood attacks, look out for carrier forms or leaping combat forms! If you go forward into the dark then you slow the party down and aren't close if they are attacked. It takes half a second or so for your eyes to adjust going from light to dark or dark to light.

Maybe there's a cutscene b4 this part starts where you tell the others to follow you (as you know the way) unless you tell them to carry on while you go ahead. The signal for that could be engaging your invisibility or pressing 12 o'clock on the dpad, or whatever. They follow you when you call or return to the light.
