I used to do it slow but sure. Only that takes too long and has its own dangers.

The thing with the Flood is that they are always easy and you are always on top, right up to the point were a carrier form explodes next to you or 50 thousand combat forms surround you and slap you to death (embarassing).

If you haven't checkpointed for a long time then its a chore to do it again.

In H2 you run past enemies and they disappear as soon as you turn the corner. In the Library you spawn a LOT of enemies as you run through. And they don't go away as you turn a corner. They will be there waiting or they will be following close behind should you get checked at any point.

A flood in front and a flood behind. Now get out of that! :)

Also, I think that the game just takes pity on me and stops spawning Flood if I don't make progress. I don't like that so I try to push forward while enemies are still spawning.

I console myself with the thought that I will kill everything on the ring, so nobody gets away. :)

I do too, even when in the thick of things. I suppose its the feeling of flow. Time flies when you are in the groove.

I'm sure its how Bungie want you to play that part. If you hide in the canyon and take your time then its too easy and you miss a LOT of fun.

I know you don't like to die because it breaks immersion but when you see other people speed run through that area, you feel, 'I've got to try that myself'. And you get a hell of a buzz when you finally succeed.

There is something liberating about running out of that cleft with the idea that you either live out in the open or die trying.
