On topic:
Relative to Halo 2, maybe the Covenant didn't shoot at Earth's guns because they found a way to slip landing pods through the MAC shield system, but never found a way to successfully get plasma weapons to shoot through the shield. Ergo, shots from the carriers were worthless, but boarding parties with bombs could do the job in one shot without tying up a cruiser's guns at all. Once through, however, their boarding party could operate normally. Just a random idea. We don't even technically know if Earth's MAC guns were shielded, and if they weren't, the answer would be "because then we wouldn't have had a Cairo Station level if they did that". [on other notes]
The Mjolnir suits are, technically, the products of project MJOLNIR. I don't think they ever technically got their own name (other than a revision number), as I think they really just got an association with the program. As in, they're the Project Mjolnir Personal Power Armor Mk.x, if you follow, and people just call them Mjolnir by themselves for short. |
