In Response To: Give us more (please) (JeBr0nie) : I'd be interested in reading some of your findings. Please, if you're
People claim that when the driver is dead the vehicle will explode also, and that the warthog won`t explode until the driver is dead.. If this is the case, the whole vehicle damage thing would be pointless. I`m going to ignore this for now.. Whatever I could remember at the moment. -What`s the deal with these weakspots? Right.. I`m going to use the warthog as an example, in most cases. Essentially, the warthog has a couple of different "damage zones". It is armored against small arms fire most places, where it can take twice as much abuse as places it isn't*. I suspect the armor can take three times as much from plasma weapons. I have a general idea of how much many shots it takes from each weapon, but to make a list is more work than people would appreciate. *Meaning. If we imagine it takes nearly 200 shots from the magnum to destroy a warthog,
-Where exactly are these different zones then? Up until now, I have only discovered that the wheels are unarmored. But I suspect there are more places and I`m currently researching this. Also, I believe the turret can take pretty much anything. Won`t bother to make any artwork or anything. Everyone knows where the wheels and the turret are.
I will check out the other vehicles when I have more time.. -What`s up with all the bits falling off then!! Simply put. Some pieces of a vehicle looks damaged or simply come off after taking a certain amount of damage.
This applies to both unarmored and armored spots. The rims on the wheels on the warthog (just to make an unarmored example) come off after a single shot from any weapon. Note that all the damage from that shot, regardless of weapon will stack to the total amount of damage taken. On the hog, the back bumper and the pieces above the wheels, even though they fall off, are considered armored. The places underneath represents the same amount of sturdiness as the bits that fell off. In other words, you can`t shoot off the armor and reveal weaker parts. It is not THAT sophisticated a system. Now, the glass works the same way, (and also the hatch on the tanks) but is still different. The window actually works as armor for the driver and the front seat passenger, for as much damage as the screen can take.
But like I said this is not separate from the rest of the warthog, damage wise**. **Following the first example. The warthog can take exactly 28 BR burst if you only hit the armored pieces.
-What`s the burning all about then. Uh, it burns! I`ll demonstrate on the hog again. If one third of the total damage the hog can take has been dealt to it, it starts smoking. Around 55% the electronics will start to fizzle..(This is a guess) Whenever someone have damaged 75%, the driving abilities of the vehicle will be somewhat reduced.
If the car burns completely, it has just exploded, and is destroyed. And you can`t use it, possibly because you are dead. -Do you have a list of how much damage each zone can take from every weapon before the vehicle is utterly kaput? Only in my head.. And nobody cares.. -What about the other vehicles? Same system, at least on the light vehicles..
(Yes, I realize all this is pretty inconclusive but if people knew most of this, they wouldn`t ask..)
