Well, okay, maybe. Except....it wasn't really so much a hydrogen bomb as it was three massive fusion generators as well as their laser cooling systems. Hold all that within the Halcyon-class, nigh-indestructible hull of the PoA for a nanosecond or so (backed, of course, by the operational--if failing--electromagnetic coils), that has got to be a massive amount of energy concentrated in a relativle small area. The only thin I don't understand is why the explosion simply cut one even section from the ring and sent it spiraling inwards, instead of blowing two ends outwards, snapping the ring into many many "shards." |
