In Response To: Re: In Amber Clad loadout discussion (M6D) : but still, flights in a average squadron, and lets just use numbers here,
Wouldn't it be more likely that a pelican flight is 3 aircraft, because that is the size of the flight that transported John and Sgt. Johnson to Mombosa. Why would they take only a partial flight when Commander Keyes ordered two flights. My speculation as to the second flight is that they were they flight that dropped the Marines at the bridge. The Corporal stated that the Covenant wiped out the rest of her platoon. She also states that they through everything they had at it, including 90mm Scorpion rounds, 12.7mm Armor Peircing rounds (Warthog mounted Laag Tri-Barrel machine gun as stated by the instruction booklet), and Jackhammer rockets. How many Pelicans would it take to transport a platoon of Marines, a Scorpion, and a couple Warthogs? My guess is three as a Pelican appears to be able to transport 10-12 Marines within it's rear hold, plus the cockpit holds a pilot and copilot and possibly the platoon leader. Somewhere in the first book the statistics are given for it's cargo/passenger capacity. Adding up my estimates though, a flight of three Pelicans can transport between 30-36 Marines plus equipment.
