No, what I mean is that Homo Erectus (us) evolved naturally (from preexisting life or Forerunner seed cells, your choice) and that the Forerunner virus then recognized Homo Erectus as the dominant species of the planet capable of adaptibility, pack mentality, tool innovation, and whatnot, and then infected us with a gene to alter our personalities a bit- read the footnotes for that one. This slight personality change is what sparked us to develop technology as we did, from early windmills, to steam engines, to nuclear fusion reactors, so to speak.
