In Response To: The Flood, Lysogenics, And You (Sardaukar [Pants 138]) I had to look up lysogenic to understand what it means. :-) LYSOGENIC LIFE CYCLE:The life cycle of temperate bacteriophages in which the virus can either replicate via the lytic life cycle or become a latent prophage within the infected host bacterium and not replicate. OK... the lytic lifecycle means that the bacteriophages reproduce inside the infected cell then rupture the cell in order to escape and infect other cells. So I think that you are saying that the Forerunners may have used bacteriophages to insert DNA into single celled organisms with the intent to, somehow, convert them into something capable of firing the Halos. I also get the impression that you are suggesting that this conversion process happened over several generations and was driven by each generation reproducing to create offspring that were closer to the ideal of a creature capable of firing the rings. Am I correct so far or have I missed the point? Where have I gone wrong? | |
