In Response To: Very good thoughts... (58)

: ...And I'd like to welcome you to the forums. You apear a very intelligent
: person, and we can infer that you have read Dune, a very good book, from
: your name. Good taste. ^^

Thanks!

: Now, to your post. I like what you say about The Flood being the "root
: of all evils" as one could say, the origin of viri. However, I do not
: like the idea of us having been created by a direct off-shoot of this. I
: do not hold with such theories stating that we were created by, or are
: direct decendants of, the Forerunner. I understand that we are of galactic
: importants in some way, but until shown direct evidence, I will not agree
: that we are related to the Forerunner in any genetic way. Plus, if the
: Forerunner made us, then...We're all clones! >.< (I'm feeling
: Zentraedi today!)

I should probably clarify; The 'root cells of life' bit is probably the biggest variable here; whether the Forerunner spread 'early' forms of unicellular organisms*, or whether they were already present on Earth, entirely up for debate from my standpoint. What I'm saying is that whatever life was on Earth, this Forerunner virus recognized it as a viable successor race to the Forerunner and then infected them, making us the descendents of the forerunners only by distant, injected relation, and even then by thoughtprocesses alone.

* = I suppose this ties in better; otherwise, the Forerunner would have been obliged to spread their virus to all lifebearing worlds, and that means that the Covenant races might have been selected in our place, which they weren't- 343GS would have referred to them as knowingly when he said "the other races" (or something along those lines) on the level of his namesake... I think.

Also, one problem of mine is that I tend to start writing something, and then I go off on a tangent in another direction, and then return to the original point only to have forgotten where I left off, usually resulting in a strangely ended sentence. I'm bound to do that sooner or later : /.
