For one: That should be "wouldn't", not "would"- unless you're trying to be misleading and secretly confess your hope that Bungie would be "incorporated". We? Who is ‘we’? Is there some sort of conspiracy group going around titled "I hope Bungie doesn't get bought out by Microsoft"? Think of a better name.
Yes, many of the Bungie faithful (and not so faithful i.e. the one's who think it would die so easily) were upset about the 'sellout' of Bungie- or whatever you want to call it. There are good and bad sides to it and I'll be damned if any idiot can't think of one reason why they wouldn't want to have a company backed by a very rich company like Microsoft. Selling out? Damn man, wouldn't want to work for "The Man", lets all stay at home and work on our own computers. Let me put it this way, if you ever go to work- you're selling out, you're doing it "for the money". Think about it.
Two: Why the inactivity? If anyone actually just wanted to know "Why is there so much inactivity?" you now have permission to bang your head against the wall. Last time I checked most companies don't pull games miraculously out of the air while revamping the whole engine and basically building the other half of the game, I'm not sure what company actually does that, but I'll assure you the game won't be even a billionth as good as Bungie's, who is dedicated to making the damn best games out there.
Last note:

Hey Genius, I'm not sure you noticed but Halo was *previewed* before Microsoft bought Bungie. They had the idea a "little" bit before hand.
If anyone else has any complaints I'll be growing a hippopotamus in my bathtub.
