Sure new, comfy spaces make a difference and sure good companies deal with their people well. You miss one thing in that equation, the monolithic corporate factor. Big corporations tend to care a whole lot less about their individual employees, and on a larger scale, sometimes entire projects. If it's not a make or break thing, then sometimes that "treatment of people for goal achievements" falls by the wayside. I'm not saying it's happened here, and from the sound of Matt's postage it hasn't. (Although some of the drones did get a little snippy, but I digress) Let's just hope it stays that way. Is MS stupid? As a whole, no. (Although, with products like WinME, I'm tempted to change my mind) But they are large enough that stupidity can happen in many quarters without the greater company knowing or even caring.
