take a look at what your saying. if the floods "survial" depended on being preserved on the rings then there would be no need to study them. look at it like this. the forerunner encounter the flood. the flood begin spreading rapidly, the forerunner try everything to stop the flood but nothing is proving effective. the flood can be kill with weapons, but they spread too fast to be controled by that means. inorder to defeat the flood they needed to stop its spread. so they kill all life in the galaxy and put a halt to the floods advance. the flood would still surive and go into hiberantion so that is why after the rings are actiated, sentials are sent out to collect a few samples and destory the rest. the reason why they need to collect samples is two reasons.
if the floods surival depended on being collected then the forerunner could have just ended the threat once and forall by not collecting it. their is no other reason to researching it if the threat could be destoryed cause the forerunner would not have anything to gain from it, remember they're dead(execpt for a few surviors who still would gain nothing) all those theroys about extracting memories and stuff no longer work cause they require that the forerunner civilition still be around to benifit from it. bottom line, if the flood can hibernate then their "surival" did not depend on being preserved on the rings. |
