In Response To: Because Truth knew the tru7h (replay)
: Him being the sole survivor goes back to the whole issue of whether Truth
: knew the tru7h - the tru7h being any number of things, including that
: Humans=Forerunners, or that the Great Journey was just a Great Mass
: Suicide, etc.
: If Truth knew these tru7hs, he could never reveal them because it would
: instantly dissolve the Covenant. And people who are at the top of the
: power pyramid do not like to relinquish it, especially in a totalitarian
: regime like the Covenant. It would mean everything the Covenant had fought
: for and believed in for the past tens of thousands of years was all a lie
: and based on misconceptions.
: It would only be a matter of time before the Covenant discovered enough
: Forerunner artifacts, Oracles, databases of information, etc. before they
: realized the tru7h without it being revealed to them by their leaders. The
: Heretic and his group is the perfect example of this.
: So, Truth is increasingly forced into a corner, and the only way to maintain
: his dignity and save face is to activate the Halos and wipe out all life
: in the Galaxy. No one would ever know the tru7h, except him (and perhaps
: his inner circle). This is why Truth sent Tartarus on his duty of
: activating the Halos, believing with every bit of his heart that Tartarus
: would succeed, and all the while Truth had an ulterior motive and went on
: his own way towards Earth. I believe this is where the Ark would be
: located, and where Truth will find refuge from the activation.
: Yes, I don't doubt there would be a select group of
: Prophets/followers/bodyguards/etc. with him onboard that ship. For one, I
: doubt he could operate it himself. Two, Bungie is going to have to put MC
: through some fight scenes prior to reaching and killing Truth.
If the Ark is refuge where are the Forerunner? Or if you belive the theory that Humans are reclaimers that could be where we survived to start our planet over.
