: "Position as Needed" theory.
Don't tell anyone I'm theorising. I'm supposed to be impartial nowadays ;)
The way I see it - a race which can make magic crystals can easily make a rock which changes to locate the Halos. This is a minor point though.
Secondly - The tablet regarding the Halos is very interesting, especially that bulge. What is that bulge for?
Thirdly - The Halo mobility factor makes a lot of sense for me. Relatively speaking, Halos are small (ie, not as big as a planet) but it only takes one comet coming your way. In 100,000 years - how many times have we been hit in that time? It would be adbantageous to have some sort of mobility - to move away from any environmental factors. Also to accomodate for any unforunate accidents concerning your other Halos. At the same time, I do agree with the 'fixed point' theory. I can ride a bike, doesn't mean I do it on the way to uni.
Fourthly - that bulge outside the galaxy. Pretty wierd, huh? Flood origin? A plague that's swept through the universe, sailing on a desolate ship, hibernating until a Forerunner scout found them? Or something worse?
